How to change your e-mail address to access courses limited to EPFL students

The course you want to follow only accepts students who are enrolled with their EPFL e-mail address. If you are currently logged in using a Switch edu-ID account that uses your private e-mail address as the primary e-mail (e.g. hotmail.com or gmail.com), you will not be able to enrol in this course.

If you have an EPFL e-mail address, you can either change the primary e-mail address of your Switch edu-ID account to your EPFL e-mail address (Option 1,) or you can log in with your EPFL institutional login (Option 2.)

Option 1: Change the primary e-mail address of your Switch edu-ID account

  1. Log out from Courseware by visiting https://courseware.epfl.ch/logout;
  2. Log out from the OpenLearnity Identity Provider by visiting https://id.openlearnity.org/logout;
  3. Navigate to https://eduid.ch/account/profile;
  4. Click “Manage E-Mail Addresses,” add your EPFL e-mail address if it’s not already listed, and set it as the primary e-mail address by clicking the envelope button next to it;
  5. Login to Courseware again by selecting Switch edu-ID;
  6. Enrol in the course.

Option 2: Log in with your EPFL institutional login

  1. Log out from Courseware by visiting https://courseware.epfl.ch/logout;
  2. Log out from the OpenLearnity Identity Provider by visiting https://id.openlearnity.org/logout;
  3. Login to Courseware again “EPFL” from the list of affiliated institutions;
  4. Enrol in the course.

Note: While logged in with your EPFL institutional login, you will not be able to see the courses you enrolled in with your personal account. When coming back to the platform, you will need to remember to log in with your EPFL institutional login when you want to follow the courses limited to EPFL students, and with your Switch edu-ID account when you want to follow the courses you’re enrolled in with your personal account.
